Hey Albeani is here! You owe me a text message mister (magpie). Yeah, we'll try to get out to Shakey for the derby as long as the weather cooperates. Keep your stick on the ice boys!

I was wondering if that was you posting on here lol make sure you stop out for the derby if you can..i keep telling Haley to try and get the whole gang out there. I have a big camper shack that's plenty big for more than a few people. Ill probably have it out this weekend. Im heading out today after work to try for some crappies.

I have caught a few crappie late season at night with glowing jigs (with your bro-in-law). But never more than two or three. Although the jigs weren't the only thing glowing that day. Come to think of it, I think I fell asleep in the shack for awhile!

Beau knows fish! I've always heard the crappie bite early ice and then fizzle out. Anybody had any luck with crappie later in the season?

The ice is probably 8 inches thick in the middle of the main lake ( resort ) there's several ice shacks out and Sunday there was a car on the ice near the beach. The derby is usually on the free fishing weekend which is the 13 & 14. I haven't seen any flyers around town yet but it should be sat the 13th.

Any updates on how thick the ice is? And has anyone heard if the tournament is happening in February? I have been going every year but last, for 6 years now.

The ice is fine...I fished last sat. out in the middle of resort lake and there was 3-4 " of solid ice. Fished about 2.5 hours and iced a dozen or so crappies.

Ice is pretty sketchy yet....just went out today and pretty much the whole shoreline is slushy ice. Did find a spot to walk out from the beach about 30' but wouldn't go any further. This weekend maybe it'll be fishable

Anyone been ice fishing yet? Ice probably wont be good for awhile cause of all the snow we recently got.

Coopaloop, to answer your questions; Sorry to say no, and highly unlikely. Probably no safe ice until January.

Anybody know if there has been much ice on the lake or thinks there could be ice in the next week or so with the colder temps?
